Del. Comstock Accepting Applications To The Young Women's Leadership Program
Del. Barbara Comstock (R-34) has officially launched the second year of her Young Women's Leadership Program, which provides young women enrolled in middle school and high school the opportunity to meet and interact with women in leadership positions in government, politics and business. Through this program, young women will be able to learn about career opportunities in various fields, develop their leadership skills, identify their strengths and interests and practice effective communication with others to help realize their future educational and career goals.

To the Editor: I recently attended a Patrick Murray event in the Mount Vernon area. Murray is back a second time, running to represent the 8th congressional district in Virginia. With his new campaign comes more emphasis on responsible government spending and job creation.

Every Year Is Election Year in Virginia
Northern Virginia has most two-party races on ballot.
While the Virginia governor’s race is the one getting the most attention, both nationally and in the state, Virginia’s House of Delegates race is shaping up to be the most competitive in a decade. According to an official candidate list released last month by the Virginia State Board of Elections, 57 House seats will be contested this November — marking only the second time in the last decade where at least half of the 100 House seats will have more than one name on the ballot.

FACETS Holds Academic Achievement Party
Some 32 youth honored for getting A’s and B’s on report cards.
FACETS held an Academic Achievement Party last Thursday, June 27, at Old Town Hall in Fairfax City to honor 32 youth who earned A’s and B’s on their report cards and for the 13 students who graduated from high school, 12 of whom are moving on to higher education. After a potluck dinner, Mike Collins from Rep. Gerry Connolly’s office (D-11th) distributed awards and goodie bags.
