FACETS Holds Academic Achievement Party
Some 32 youth honored for getting A’s and B’s on report cards.
FACETS held an Academic Achievement Party last Thursday, June 27, at Old Town Hall in Fairfax City to honor 32 youth who earned A’s and B’s on their report cards and for the 13 students who graduated from high school, 12 of whom are moving on to higher education. After a potluck dinner, Mike Collins from Rep. Gerry Connolly’s office (D-11th) distributed awards and goodie bags.

Fundraiser Supporting Chesterbrook PTA
A fundraiser for Chesterbrook PTA has been announced by HBC Realty Group’s (Keller Williams Realty) Community Charity Champions. Come to dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pulcinella Italian Host in McLean to support Chesterbrook PTA. Enjoy dinner and know that approximately 70 percent of the proceeds from food and drink will go to the charity, as long as the diner brings the flyer for the event. Winter Concerts Wow Audiences At Herndon High
Herndon students display their musical skills.
In December, students in the Herndon High choir and band were very active. Members of the Herndon High School Band "Pride of Herndon" went to Hawaii to represent Virginia in the 2013 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade. The Pride of Herndon was awarded Grand Champion honors for their performance. The Herndon High School Choir Department has also been busy with choral groups putting on performances for the holiday season. This included an evening show on Dec. 7 at Herndon Town Square by The Herndon High School Madrigals and Herndon Brass Quintet.
Join CROP Hunger Walk Nov. 18
Burke area walk celebrates 20 years.
When disasters such as Hurricane Sandy occur, the natural human response is to reach out to help others in need, typically through monetary donations. For 20 years, residents in Burke and surrounding communities have walked in the annual Burke Area CROP Hunger Walk to raise funds for both hunger and disaster relief, to help people whose names they would never know, even as they helped feed people who might be hungry in their own neighborhood.
