Fairfax County police are searching for a man who reportedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl last week in Fair Oaks. The incident occurred last Wednesday, Feb. 8, around 6:20 a.m. Police say the teen was walking to catch her school bus near the intersection of Fair Lakes Parkway and Monument Drive when a man allegedly followed her, made comments of a sexual nature and touched her inappropriately.

Fractured Shaft Stops Colvin Run Mill

Tours and interpretations of the Great Falls historic site continue.

Grinding with the main stones at Colvin Run Mill Historic Site has come to a stop for the next few months. Miller Mason Maddox found a crack in the main axle of the site’s water wheel, which catches the water flowing through the millrace and powers the mill.

Groundhog Day Held At Frying Pan Park

Families visit groundhog burrow.

"They are like little lawnmowers, so when it is spring, they eat everything they can," said Frying Pan Park naturalist Shannon Morley. "When it is summer, they eat everything they can. And when it is fall they still eat. But in winter they rest or hibernate." Morely was giving a presentation to families on groundhogs that reside on the park grounds.
