More than 1,600 individuals and 50 volunteers participated in Sunday’s Walk MS presented by Booz Allen Hamilton in Reston, benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s National Capital Chapter.

Bill Kristol to Speak at GOP Women Meeting
The Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) June meeting will feature Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, who will speak about “The Political Situation.” The event will be on Wednesday, June 26, at the Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station. The social hour will begin at 7 p.m. when refreshments will be served. President Alice Butler-Short will open the business meeting at 7:30 p.m., after which Kristol will present his topic and answer questions.
Dr. Ericksen Joins Kaplan Center
Jeffery Ericksen, MD, an expert in regenerative medicine, joined the Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicine team, June 6. Before joining the Kaplan Center, Dr. Ericksen served at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Hospital as an attending physician and as the director of the hospital’s Interventional Pain Clinic and Polytrauma Network Site. Dr. Ericksen also holds an associate professorship at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Enjoy a night out in Arlington and a trip down memory lane at Ireland’s Four Courts as the local band Calder & Pugh headlines the stage on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 9 p.m. with a set of songs ranging from ‘90s hits to some of today’s hits to some of their own original music. “[It’s a] young crowd,” said Matt McIntyre, the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist. “The kind of music we play is geared towards that crowd because they grew up with that music.”
New Year’s Eve
First Night makes Alexandria the place to be.
Billed as the largest family-friendly New Year's Eve party in the greater Washington area, more than 100 live performances will take place throughout Old Town as part of First Night Alexandria, a day-long event filled with entertainment and culminating with a fireworks finale over the Potomac River along the waterfront.

Nathan F. (Red) Holeman died on Dec. 24, 2013. He was born July 16, 1925 to George and Hazel Holeman in Tuxedo Junction on the outskirts of Bartlesville, OK.

Kiwanis Conducts Service Leadership Programs Night
The Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club hosted a Service Leadership Programs Night at the Mount Vernon Country Club on Feb 20, which featured presentations from young men, women and students involved in community service and leadership activities at schools in the area. Attending the event were local school administrators, educators, principals, and advisors such as Deborah Tyler, Fairfax Country Public Schools Cluster IV assistant superintendent; Principal Nardos King, Mount Vernon High School; Principal Cliff Hardison, West Potomac High School; Principal Maura Caulfield, Stratford Landing Elementary School; Assistant Principal Kaaren Lowder, South County High School; and Kim Taylor-Wilson, acting coordinator of Student Services at Northern Virginia Community College. Students in attendance were youth leaders in their Kiwanis family of clubs including Circle K International, Key Clubs, Builders Club, and K-Kids.
