The night that the W Salon unveiled its 3,000-square-foot space with champagne for toasting, lime green attire for guests and hosts alike (in honor of their signature color), live jazz, a photobooth, food and celebrity guests, they welcomed 300 partygoers--and some follow-up business too.

McLean Antique Show & Sale Returns Nov. 10-11
The 36th Annual McLean Antique Show & Sale will be held at the McLean Community Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Admission is $7 for adults and can be used on both days of the show. Proceeds of the show will benefit The Alden’s James C. Macdonald Arts Scholarship Fund. The center is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.
New Exhibitions Open at MPA on Jan. 17
McLean Project for the Arts will hold an opening reception and gallery talk on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 7 - 9 p.m. for three new exhibitions. It is free and open to the public.
Vienna-based Youth Literacy Initiative Helps Promote Service
Youth Literacy Initiative (YLI), a Vienna-based organization, has teamed with the White House to become a Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a national program recognizing Americans who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service. Established in 2003, the award was created by President George W. Bush to give presidential recognition to individuals, families and groups who meet requirements for volunteer service, measured by the number of service hours performed over 12 months.
Elevation Burger Expands in Fairfax
Elevation Burger, fast-casual restaurant, has opened two new locations in Fairfax, the first at Fair Oaks Mall, followed by one at the Turnpike Shopping Center in Fairfax City, bringing the total number to 10 Elevation Burger locations in the Washington, D.C. metro area, of which four are located in Fairfax County.

This year's Workhouse Arts Center Annual Collectors Showcase has over 90 works of arts displayed. The works range from paintings, fiber and ceramics to photography, blown and fused glass, and more. All works are by Workhouse Studio and associate artists.

Fairfax Adult Softball hits home run during annual bowling tournament.
Supporters of Fairfax Adult Softball, Inc. (FAS) united on Sunday, Jan. 29 for the 12th annual Bowling Tournament to benefit Northern Virginia Special Olympics and Fairfax County Park Authority field improvements. More than 240 participants contributed their time and spirits to raise nearly $13,000 in this year’s tournament.

Tysons Chamber Kicks Off 2016 Job Shadow Program
Maureen Loftus, executive director of LearningRx of Vienna and Reston is leading the fourth annual Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce (TRCC) job shadow program for 60, 11th and 12th grade students of Oakton, James Madison and George C. Marshall high schools in Fairfax County, where students will shadow professionals in various industries for one day in January or February.
