Brief: Community Charity Champions to Host Fundraiser for McLean Little League

A fundraiser for Mclean Little League has been announced by HBC Realty Group’s (Keller Williams Realty) Community Charity Champions. Come to dinner on Tuesday, June 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pulcinella Italian Host in McLean to support Mclean Little League. Approximately 70 percent of the proceeds from food and drink will go to the charity, as long as the diner brings the flyer for the event.

Sounds of Summer at Reston Town Center

Marshall High Innovates Lunchtime

Statesmen Station launches pilot lunch, whole, fresh food bar, at ribbon cutting.

Tasting food, listening to a student-led, food-themed rap performance and celebrating healthy food was the agenda at school Thursday, Sept. 12 at Marshall High. Principal Jay Pearson and the Real Food For Kids group launched "the Statesmen Station," a pilot lunch program featuring fresh foods, in the form of a soup, salad and sandwich bar. With a ribbon cutting, volunteer-parent organization Food For Kids, which advocates for more fresh food in Fairfax County Public Schools, started the new lunchtime innovation.

Honored by the National Kidney Foundation

Thomas P. McDonough, of Great Falls, received the National Kidney Foundation’s (NKF) Martin Wagner Memorial Award at the recent meeting of the organization’s Board of Directors. Named for one of the NKF’s founders, this award is the highest honor the foundation bestows on lay volunteers.

Reston Chorale Brings Music to Reston Town Center

Despite winter weather Reston Chorale singers keep spirits bright.

On Saturday, Reston resident Ellen Torzilli joined 24 friends and fellow members of the Reston Chorale to sing at Promenade in Reston Town Center. There were afternoon shows outdoors on both Saturday and Sunday between the Mon Ami Gabi restaurant and Pitango Gelato.

Kick Starting Fundraising Efforts

Bite Me Cancer Foundation raises awareness and research funding.

The Bite Me Cancer Foundation in Chantilly held its first two fundraising events to support its Teen Support Bag program and thyroid cancer research. Proceeds from the events totaled more than $6,500.
