Arts Career Fair Held in Fairfax
George Mason hosts internship and career fair.
Students and alumni of George Mason University had the opportunity to attend an internship and career fair with a focus on the entertainment and consulting sectors. This event was held in February at the Fairfax campus at Mason Hall, hosted by the George Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts Alumni Chapter and University Career Services. "We have 23 employers attending," said Ryan Braaten, assistant director of development with the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University.

Artist Karen Bateman Brings the Outdoors in at Katie’s
Virginia painter Karen Bateman is the featured guest artist at Katie’s Coffee House in Great Falls for the month of June in an exhibit entitled “Water Everywhere.” The artist creates oil paintings en plein air, a French expression for "in the open air." This style of painting was popularized by the Impressionists in the late 1800s who set themselves apart from the academic realism taught in conventional enclosed, indoor artist studios.

Chantilly: One, Two, Three … Pull
The Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull at Washington Dulles International Airport attracted thousands of visitors for the airport’s annual free open house on Saturday, Sept. 17. This year’s event featured nearly 100 teams pulling two jet aircraft in a competition to support Special Olympics Virginia that originated at Dulles more than 20 years ago.

Week in Vienna
Town of Vienna Offices to Observe Columbus Day Town of Vienna offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14, in observance of the Columbus Day holiday. The Vienna Community Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; no classes or drop-in programs will be held. Refuse collection will operate as normal on Monday, Oct. 14. Public safety services will not be impacted.
