The City of Alexandria held its annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Market Square Nov. 29. Entertainment and a visit from Santa were part of the festivities that signaled the official start of the holiday season. Hundreds Gather to Give
Volunteer Fairfax holds Give Together Day.
On Monday, Jan. 21, over 300 volunteers spent their day at the Herndon Community Center to support several nonprofit organizations from the area by making holiday crafts for the infirm, toiletry kits for the homeless, and fleece toys for homeless dogs. The event was one of several taking place in Fairfax County as part of Volunteer Fairfax’s Give Together day.
Christmas Music at St. Elmo’s
Doris Justis, a part of the Metro D.C. folk scene for more than three decades, returns to St Elmo's on Dec. 22, to play Christmas songs, from 8-10 p.m. This will be a family friendly set and children are welcome.
Potomac Snapshot: Collecting Toys
As part of Cabin John Volunteer Fire Department’s 35-year tradition, Santa Claus rode through the Cabin John, West Bethesda and Potomac communities. He and his firefighter elves are collecting toys for the National Center for Children and Families in Bethesda, the USMC Toys for Tots Program and the Children’s National Medical Center.
