Dulles Rail, Phase Two; Silver Line Station Names
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting and an Ask Fairfax online discussion to inform the public about Phase Two of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. The sessions will provide information related to Phase Two project cost, financing, physical layout and Silver Line station names. Participants will be able to complete the online Station Names Survey in person at the public meetings. The Board of Supervisors will also hold a public hearing to receive public comment on the Phase 2 project.
Week in Springfield
The American Red Cross Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Services Region will hold blood drives in cities and towns throughout the region. Donors are encouraged to give all summer long, but especially near key summer holidays when donations decline.
Celebrating the Change of Season
Children can welcome the change of season at MCC's Harvest Happenings.
Young children ages 3-8 can experience the fun and excitement of the changing of the seasons as they participate in a variety of activities at the McLean Community Center’s Harvest Happenings. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the center, located at 1234 Ingleside Ave. General admission is $5 at the door; admission is free for children up to 36 months old.

Pedestrian Shirley Stearman, 81, of Potomac, died after being hit by a car in the Cabin John parking lot at 7919 Tuckerman Lane Sunday, June 2.
Flint Hill Quarterback Attends All-American Football Camp
Justin Saleh from Vienna, a 6-foot-two quarterback, was one of 300 high school football players coming to Flint Hill Upper School from the Mid-Atlantic region to work with collegiate coaches Sunday, June 2, during the All-American Football Camp.
Langley Crew Team Rows to ‘Stop Hunger Now’
The Langley crew team raised $2,500 toward the Langley pyramid effort to support the Stop Hunger Now charity, which culminated in a meal packaging event that was held at Colvin Run Elementary School on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Langley pyramid effort raised $19,000 total, which paid for 76,000 high protein meals that were put together or "packed" by volunteers. Langley crew held a fundraiser event at the Great Falls Safeway on Feb. 2 and also donated a portion of the proceeds from its annual indoor rowing competition—an "Erg-a-thon" against West Springfield High School that Langley won.
