To the Editor: The Military Order of the Stars and Bars at its convention held on July 10, 2015 in Alexandria passed the following resolution: Resolved that: History should not be abolished or wielded in the pursuit of vengeance. It is a tool that is to be used to build a better future. The Confederate heritage community acknowledges that the battle flag has been inappropriately used and abused by certain hate groups. We will not surrender to hate, or abandon our heritage.

Tucked away in Robinson Terminal Warehouse, where they have been building boats and changing lives, the Alexandria Seaport Foundation has been part of lower Duke Street’s landscape for over 10 years. Graham Holdings Company, landlord to ASF, has been helping the Foundation prepare financially for the move over the past year. ASF will relocate at the end of March to the James McIlhenny Seaport Center, its handcrafted timber frame perched along the Potomac River, adjacent to Founders Park.

ZDF German Television, the German PBS station, came to film our farmers market on Oct. 25, as a part of a one-hour documentary on the state of the U.S. at the mid-term elections, aired in Germany on Oct. 29.
County Chamber Honors Brain Injury Services
The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce (Fairfax Chamber) honored Brain Injury Services with the 2014 Nonprofit of the Year award. This category was part of the 2014 Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards presented at the Chamber’s Annual Chairman’s Luncheon on June 17, 2014.
Letter to the Editor: Are Bike Lanes Really Necessary?
To the Editor: By unanimously overruling the directly affected residents’ desires to put a bike lane on King Street, could our council overlords really want to enable more bike usage; less vehicular traffic? Pedaling a bike does burn calories, and surely more pedalers mean fewer cars. What’s not to like about less vehicular congestion and better health, at least for the pedalers?
