Dance Studio Moves Into Workhouse Arts Center
Metropolitan Fine Arts Center (MFAC) of Alexandria has officially moved into the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton. The new studio at the Workhouse Arts Center, building W-4, is 7,000 square feet, much larger than their former location in Fairfax Station, allowing for more classes and performance space.

Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna’s Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Each year more than 200 volunteers at Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna (SCOV) serve as medical drivers, companion drivers, friendly callers and visitors, health and wellness counselors, fundraisers and grant writers. These volunteers run programs such as Lunch n’ Life, Adventures in Learning, trips and outings, special events and caregivers’ support groups.
Vienna Brick Builders Win First-place Award
A team of sixth grade Louise Archer students won the first-place award for Strategy and Innovation in Division 1 at the 2013 VA/DC First Lego League Robotics tournament. The Vienna Brick Builders team is composed of Mike Duncan, Justin Hu, Corey Lee, Sareena Miley, Neha Shirolkar and Aidan Wiktorowicz. According to First Lego League, the Strategy and Innovation award "recognizes a team that uses solid engineering practices and a well-developed strategy to design and build an innovative, high performing robot." This tournament is the world's largest robotics tournament.

Detectives Investigate After Decomposed Body Found in Fairfax Station
Detectives are investigating after a body was discovered May 16 evening in a wooded area near the 7500 block of Lee Chapel Road in Fairfax Station. Officers responded shortly after 5 p.m. when a hiker found a body in an advanced stage of decomposition. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will determine cause and manner of death. Identification is pending further investigation and next of kin notification.
