Box tops & Campbell’s labels raffle at Herndon Elementary School. For every 10 Box Tops or Campbell’s Labels, there is a chance to win. Collect 10 Box Tops or Campbell’s Labels and place in an envelope. Write the student’s name and grade on the outside of the envelope, seal the envelope, deposit all envelopes for both Box Tops and Campbell’s Labels in the Campbell’s bin in the foyer of the school building by Thursday, April 26. The school will randomly draw 3 envelopes on Friday, April 27 to select the winners. Only regular size envelopes containing 10 Box Tops or Campbell’s Label’s will be valid for the drawing. The envelope can contain a mix of both Box Tops and Campbell’s labels.

The school atrium at Fox Mill Elementary will become a composting area and outdoor classroom for students thanks to a Johnie Forte Jr. Grant awarded by FCPS. Students, teachers, and parent volunteers will transform the area so it can be used by students in all grade levels in conjunction with the curriculum. Alternative to Four-Year Colleges Resource Fair. Pathways to Success and Teen Opportunities Fair are two upcoming events aimed at providing information for high school graduates who are looking for alternatives to four year colleges.
Fairfax County Youth Employment Services is sponsoring one fair on Saturday, April 28 at Southgate Community Center, 12125 Pinecrest Road, Reston and the PTAs of several local high schools are sponsoring a separate fair on Friday, May 4 at Robinson Secondary School, 5035 Sideburn Road, Fairfax.
Grandparents and other relatives raising children will be able to take a day away from parenting on Saturday, April 28, as Fairfax County Public Schools — in cooperation with the Fairfax County Departments of Family Services, Community and Recreation Services, and Systems Management for Human Services and the Kinship Care Committee of Fairfax County — sponsors a day of supervised activities for children aged 3-12 who are Fairfax County residents. The event will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Mott Community Center and is free of charge.
Activities will be offered for children aged 3 and older. Each participating child should bring a lunch. The same person must drop off and pick up a child. Identification will be required for pickup.

Linking Parents and Schools, a conference for families of students who receive special education services in Fairfax County Public Schools, will be held Saturday, April 28, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Marshall High School. The conference will provide information on community resources and offer ideas to improve services for FCPS students with disabilities.

Kindergarten 2007-08 is for children who will be five on or before Sept. 30, 2007. Orientation for parents will be Tuesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. in the Herndon Elementary School cafeteria with presentations by the principal, Kindergarten teachers and other staff.
Registration will be 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 and 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday from April 23, by appointment only. Call the registrar for information or to set up an appointment.
