Forest Park recently hired Mark Mallisham, who spent the last six years at Heritage to become the school’s new boys' basketball coach.
Mallisham is a former assistant at Marymount University, West Springfield, Hayfield, Woodbridge and Westfield, and got his first head coaching job when Heritage opened in 2002.
After winning one game in his first season, Mallisham, 40, led the Pride to five consecutive winning seasons. Heritage has captured the past three Group AA Dulles District regular-season titles and advanced to two Region II Tournaments.
The Pride’s best season was in 2005-06 when they went 23-4 overall, 15-0 in the district, becoming the first Dulles District team to finish the regular season undefeated.
This past season, Heritage finished 14-10 and lost in the first round of the regional tournament.
Mallisham coached with current Hylton boys basketball coach Barry Smith at Hayfield. Mallisham replaces Kirby Overman, who stepped down after five seasons to become an assistant men’s basketball coach at Eastern Kentucky University.
This past season, Forest Park went 6-17 overall and 1-9 in the Group AAA Cardinal District.
