Westfield High School Show Choir is putting on "Disney Dazzle" — a song-and-dance cabaret concert. The Westfield High School Show Choir and Disney Ensemble will perform the most popular childhood favorites. The dates are on Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m.; Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $7/adults, $5/children/students/seniors at the door. Tickets will also be available online beginning April 10 at www.westfieldhschoral.org.

Motivational speaker Chris Skinner will give a talk on Friday, April 18 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Westfield High. Chris teaches personal responsibility and good decision-making skills, with an emphasis on academic achievement, overcoming negative influences, and avoiding high-risk behaviors such as the use of drugs and alcohol. In a dramatic presentation that covers his own ultimate learning experience, Chris reviews the decisions he made that put him in a wheelchair for life. This program offers a strong message for responsible choices and focuses on the power of those choices in determining how our lives progress. The event is sponsored by Westfield High School, the Westfield PTSA, the Westfield Community Coalition, and Westfield Business Owners Association.

Fair Oaks Mall is looking for stylish guys and gals for the 2008 Just Right for Prom Night Spring Fashion Show featuring the hottest fashions for prom and after-prom parties. Bull Run Elementary School is currently seeking golfers for its annual BRES Golf Tournament at Pleasant Valley County Club on Sunday, April 20 at 1 p.m. All proceeds from this tournament benefit the 2008-2009 sixth- grade field trip to Camp Highroads. Fees of $110 per player or $400 per foursome include greens fees, cart fees, range balls, professional scoring, GPS leader board, closest to the pin and longest drive contest, lunch and a complimentary gift bag. Chantilly High will hold its version of "Saturday Night in the Suburbs," on Monday, April 21, at 7 p.m., in the school media center. A panel of students will talk to parents about teenage drug use, alcohol, parties, driving and communication between teens and parents. Westfield High is having a Teen Driving Assembly for sophomores on Tuesday, April 22 at 1 p.m. WJLA-TV’s Leon Harris will speak.

The 2008 Centreville Pyramid Art Show will be held Thursday, April 24 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Centreville High School. The show represents the artwork of Centreville High students as well as students from the Centreville Pyramid. Those include: Liberty Middle School, Centreville, Centre Ridge, Bull Run, Colin Powell, and Union Mill elementary schools.

Theatre Centreville presents "Senioritis," their Cappies performance for the year, on May 1-3 in the Skip Maiden Theatre. "Senioritis" is a student-written musical performed at the Kennedy Center by Cappie Award winners in August of 2007. The show is about seniors of Erma Schmoe High School who are stressed out by their parents, teachers and friends. They are consumed by college admissions, conflicting friendships and end of the year grades The show is at 7:30 p.m. May 1-3, with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students. The Alliance Theatre presents "Capital Cabaret," combining the talents of some of the area’s most noted performers, on May 2, 3, 9,10 at 8 p.m. at Mountain View High School in Centreville. Tickets are $8-$10. Produced by Elaine Wilson and choreographed by Stacy Crickmer and Annie Ermlick. Seven creative people will sing and dance the songs of Broadway and beyond. With Cathy Arnold, Stacy Crickmer, Annie Ermlick, Jim Mitchell, Scott Pafumi, Joe Philipoom as the vocalists and Charlie Manship on the keyboard, the group presents a Broadway tour of America’s most beloved shows. Tunes from "Hairspray," "Spamalot," "Chicago," "Oklahoma" and other favorite shows are featured throughout this musical revue. A bit of nostalgia turns up with a twist of the 50’s and 60’s.

Capital Cabaret will be The Alliance Theatre’s third show in partnership with Mountain View High School.

After opening in May the group will be traveling around the area performing at conventions, conferences, community events and organizations. Capital Cabaret will be available all year to make your group’s evening sparkle with a musical beat. The Cabaret makes a great fund-raiser for local organizations. John Wellington of Westfield High School was named a Silver Award winner in the national Scholastic Art Awards competition sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. He won for his Photography Portfolio.

The application for the Westfield Athletic Booster Club Scholarship is available on the booster club Web site at www.westfieldathletics.org. Each year the board awards at least one senior boy athlete and one senior girl athlete with a scholarship that can be applied toward their first year tuition. To qualify, graduating seniors or someone in their immediate family must be a current member of the WABC. They should have played any sport, for any one season, as a student at Westfield High School. Applications must be turned in to the career center no later than Friday, April 25. Scholarships are not based on athletic ability.

The event is a fund-raiser for the project "Instant Messaging," a new theatrical production by The Olney Theatre providing support and encouragement to wounded veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. ASSE International Student Exchange Programs (ASSE) is looking for volunteers to serve as Area Representatives in the community. ASSE provides academic year, semester and short-term exchange programs in the U.S. for high school-aged students from around the world. Heather Ward of Centreville, a second degree nursing student at Marymount University, recently received a BB&T/Inova Scholarship for the 2007-2008 academic year. Ward was one of 10 students to be awarded a $7,500 scholarship. She previously earned a B.S. in Business at Virginia Tech.

Host a Chinese Exchange student for two weeks in your home through the U.S.-China Friendship Exchange. A group of students will be here July 8-20 to study English and American culture. Hosts will provide room, board, and hospitality for these visiting students. Students come from Shanghai and Beijing, China, and are 15-17 years old.
