Volunteer Fairfax is seeking volunteers for its annual children’s program, "A Celebration of Giving and Sharing." Students in select Fairfax County schools will receive backpacks full of books and toys and talk to community volunteers about the importance of giving sharing and giving back. After benefiting from volunteerism, the partner schools engage their students in volunteer projects.
The schools are selected based on need, with nearly half of their students qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program. Two of the three schools selected this time is Weyanoke Elementary, located at 6520 Braddock Road, Alexandria, and Woodlawn Elementary, located at 8505 Highland Lane, Alexandria. The delivery day is Thursday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the celebration day is Friday, Dec. 12, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
