West Potomac Bikes for Trees

Bicyclists from the West Potomac High community raised more than $6,400 to fund the planting of 33 trees on school grounds at the first West Potomac Bike-a-Thon. The trees, which will be part of the school’s Virginia native habitat in its outdoor classroom, will be planted at West Potomac’s first Earth Day celebration on April 22. More than 30 riders rode 298 laps around Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria; bikes and helmets were donated by Wheel Nuts Bike Shop in Alexandria, and food was provided by Firehouse Subs.
