Each year, the Great Falls Friends and Neighbors sponsors a White House Christmas ornament fundraiser to raise money for Artemis House. Artemis House is the only shelter exclusively for women and children in Fairfax County that services victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Members Maria Volpe and Pat Kuehnel of the Great Falls Friends and Neighbors Philanthropy Committee were in charge of this fundraising effort.

This year’s ornaments, honoring Franklin D Roosevelt, were sold at Great Dogs (in Great Falls), Studio Hair (in Great Falls and Fairfax), Burke Jewelers (in Reston). Proceeds from all the sales of the ornaments went directly to support Artemis House. On March 1, Great Falls Friends and Neighbors presented a check for $5000 to Jennifer Dalessio, Director of Development for Artemis House. Great Falls Friends and Neighbors, as a women’s organization, is honored to support such a worthy cause that helps women and children in need.
