Sanda Blake Wins People’s Choice Award
rtSpace Herndon and the Council for the Arts of Herndon have announced the People’s Choice Award winner from the "At Home in Herndon: 2012 Town Calendar Photography Exhibit" featuring photographs depicting seasonal or community events, people and places in Herndon. This year’s winner selected by the patrons visiting the exhibit is “Springtime on Spring Street” by Sandra Blake.

Herndon Celebrates Arts Week

The Council for the Arts of Herndon will host Arts Week in Herndon taking advantage of a holiday week to feature all kinds of local art. Starting Monday, Oct. 8 and going through Saturday, Oct. 13, there will be events all over town, featuring artists, live music and classes for people of all ages and interests.
Herndon High Hosts Band Competition

The stadium at Herndon High was packed Saturday with friends and family attending the 16th Annual Virginia’s Showcase of Bands. Twenty-six high school marching bands from across northern Virginia and Maryland competed throughout the day Saturday, with the larger bands performing Saturday evening.

Great Falls Studios, a community arts organization with more than 100 artist members in Great Falls, announced this week that the home remodeling company Sun Design has agreed to sponsor the art group’s Ninth Annual Great Falls Studios Tour, Oct. 20 and 21.
Tree Removals Postponed
The Virginia Department of Transportation has postponed the removal of two white oak trees at the corner of Georgetown Pike and Walker Road, allowing the community to hire an arborist to examine the two trees.

Effective Oct. 1, 2012, landlords must provide advance written authorization for a renter to receive water and sewer services from the Town of Vienna by completing a Landlord Authorization Form, available online at www.viennava.gov/index.aspx?nid=254. When signing up for water and sewer services, renters must provide a signed copy of the Landlord Authorization Form, a Customer Agreement Form and pay a lien offset payment of $225.

Navy Federal Credit Union held its 20th annual 5K Run/Walk Sept. 15, with a record 836 registered contestants, a 22 percent increase from last year.
