Anita, a four-year old student at Northern Virginia Family Service’s Head Start program in Arlington presents Gov. Terry McAuliffe and his wife, Dorothy, with artwork to commemorate their visit on Friday, Sept. 19, to promote health coverage. The governor stressed that Virginia children have fallen behind their neighbors such as West Virginia and Washington, D.C., in enrolling children in Medicaid or FAMIS (Family Access to Medical Insurance Security). Anita is supported by her teacher, Neelu Bawa, and NVFS President and CEO Mary Agee. Supporting the event were attendees from NVFS’ partners in health access and multicultural programs, including Del Patrick Hope (D-47), the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Neighbors Keeper, United Community Ministries, Voices of Virginia Children, INOVA Health System – Partnership for Healthier Kids, First Focus, Neighborhood Health and Multicultural Family and Education Center.
