Great Falls Studios (GFS) will celebrate a decade of art on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Great Falls Community Library, 9830 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls. This is an opportunity to meet GFS artists, view some of their original work, enjoy hands-on activities and learn the stories of their studios. A 10th Anniversary book is scheduled to be released that day—a community occasion to celebrate creativity.

Celebrate Great Falls will host its annual golf tournament Monday, June 3 at Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston. The event serves as a fundraiser for Great Falls, Colvin Run and Forestville Elementary Schools, and has raised more than $98,000 for the schools.

Lynbrook Elementary First to Fly Air Quality Flags

Lynbrook Elementary School, in partnership with TrailsforYouth.Org, is raising special, colored flags every morning to help teachers, students and members of the community be aware of daily air quality conditions. The effort is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s School Flag Program. Lynnbrook is the first public school in Fairfax County to start a new flag program to identify air quality pollution days to help students and the community to stay healthy.
