Curry Mantra 3 turned upside-down the adage, “there’s no such thing as a free lunch,” on Sept. 8. Not only did the new restaurant at Cedar Park Shopping Center serve free lunch to celebrate its grand opening, it served free dinner, as well. Vienna guests and loyal customers from Curry Mantra 1 and 2 lined up at the door in support of Vienna’s newest entry into the town’s burgeoning restaurant scene. A hostess manning the door let people in as guests left—that’s how busy it was.

Young Lancer Girls Showing Improvement on Hardwood
Despite poor win percentage, Lee High team is getting better.
This has been a tough, rebuilding season for the Lee High girls’ basketball team, which carried a 2-15 overall record going into this week’s play. Nevertheless, Lancer head coach Harold Jackson said his team has shown good improvement over the course of the winter season, even if it cannot be measured with wins and losses.

Westfield Captures Concorde Wrestling Title
Bulldogs take first ahead of defending Northern Region champion Robinson.
The Westfield High wrestling team put together a dominant showing at last weekend’s Concorde District Championships, held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4) at Chantilly High School. The Bulldogs, behind seven individual champions, scored 207 points, well ahead of runner-up Robinson’s 165, to capture the district crown.

Express Lanes Move Closer to Opening
Express Lanes open new operations center in Alexandria, prepares for opening.
As the construction equipment and debris is cleared from the new two left lanes going both ways on the Virginia side of the Beltway, the 495 Express Lanes are coming closer to opening. The variable-priced toll lanes will run over most of the Virginia section of the Beltway, and the $2 billion project has included the new lanes, as well as the rebuilding of bridges and overpasses along the way.
