Mormon Church Youth Group Visits Historic Sites

From June 20-22, 220 youth from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (LDS) youth, ages 14 to 18, from seven local congregations in Annandale, Burke and Springfield traveled to Kirtland, Ohio, to visit and tour the city that was both home and church center to the fledging Latter-day Saint church from 1831-1838.

History is on the move in Virginia as the Civil War 150 HistoryMobile rolls into Vienna for a one day visit on Saturday, April 6. The exhibit, an initiative of the Virginia Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War Commission, will be located across from the Freeman Store and Museum, 131 Church St. N.E., and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the HistoryMobile is free.

History books came to life for about 55 eighth grade students who spent a day at the Holocaust Museum, FDR Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. The trip was part of Bethesday-based Norwood School’s seventh and eighth grade “World History Through an American Lens” curriculum.
