Two Speakers to Address Republican Women of Clifton
The Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) November meeting will feature Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, and Nancy Schulze, founder of the Republican Congressional Wives Speakers in Washington, D.C. The event will be on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, and the social hour will begin at 7 p.m. when refreshments will be served. President Alice Butler-Short will open the business meeting at 7:30 p.m., after which Fitton and Schulze will speak and answer questions.
Traditional Needlework Exhibit at Greater Reston Arts Center
Greater Reston Arts Center is pleased to present STITCH, a group exhibition examining the growing popularity of traditional needlework and its incorporation into diverse forms of contemporary art. The exhibition will run from Jan. 16 through March 1, at the gallery, located in Reston Town Center. Traditionally regarded as a craft or relegated to the category of “women’s work,” needlework—including stitching, embroidery, knitting, and crochet—has become an increasingly vital element in contemporary mixed-media compositions.

A Fairfax man was charged in a vehicle crash that caused the death of a 76-year-old Reston man. Charged with failing to maintain control of his vehicle was Carlos Rios, 42. The tragedy occurred Dec. 26, 2012, around 9:30 a.m. in McLean, and the victim, Frederick Naef, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, Jan. 6.

The McLean Community Center’s (MCC) 8th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception was held on Sunday, March 25, in the Community Hall. The theme was "Italy" and Center volunteers were treated to a catered lunch by Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant and live music by The Wayne Tympanick Trio. The Center is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Shepherd’s Center of Oakton-Vienna Donates to Local Charities
For the last 16 years, the Shepherd’s Center of Oakton-Vienna (SCOV) has been hosting their Community Thanksgiving Service along with participating congregations. The money raised from the service offering is then distributed to two local charities. This year’s recipients were Our Daily Bread Fairfax and The Committee for Helping Others.

The Fulp-Eickstaedt family of Falls Church readily concedes that walking 500 miles across Spain may not be everyone’s idea of a restful summer vacation. They started their 50-day journey May 25 on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail.

Overnight I-66 Closures in January
All lanes of Interstate 66 in one direction will close intermittently between midnight and 5 a.m. on several dates in January for the installation of gantries. Each closure will last up to 30 minutes.
