Rotary Presents Youth Service Awards
Three local students honored for ‘service above self.’
The McLean Rotary Club presented its annual Youth Service Awards to three local students at their Tuesday, March 12, meeting. McLean High School senior Jung Wook "James" Choi, Langley High School junior Rebecca Pifer and Potomac School senior Britt Nelson were each awarded $250 scholarships in recognition of their efforts serving the community.

Lee Kaiser Is Honored
Named Elementary School Counselor of the Year.
A boyhood tragedy and its aftermath helped shape Lee Kaiser’s life. It influenced him to become a school counselor, and he’s held that job at Centreville Elementary for eight years. He also does it quite well and was recently named Fairfax County Public Schools’ Elementary School Counselor of the Year for 2011-12.

Heart transplant recipient Eric Sanson finds supporting community in Great Falls, McLean.
Great Falls resident Eric Sanson knew that he was at risk for a heart attack because of his family history, so twenty years ago, he was proactive in establishing a relationship with Northern Virginia cardiologist, Dr. Anne E. Summers of Cardiac Care Associates. Dr. Summers’ stated philosophy is "to listen and handle with care," which is exactly what she did with Sanson. He credits Dr. Summers’ "sharp ear" while listening to his heart through her stethoscope and identifying the fact that his heart was swelling.
