Week in Herndon

Town of Herndon 4th of July Schedule

Town of Herndon government offices and services will be impacted by the Independence Day holiday as follows: Town offices—closed Thursday, July 4. Farmers Market—open 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Refuse collection—refuse will not be collected. Refuse normally collected on Thursday will be collected on Friday, July 5. Herndon Community Center—open 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Herndon Centennial Golf Course—open 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Special event—4th of July Celebration and fireworks at Bready Park, 814 Ferndale Ave. Free. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. and include children’s crafts, bingo and family music. Fireworks at dark. For more information, visit herndon-va.gov.

Public Forum to Discuss Tysons Transportation Funding

After seventeen months of deliberation, County officials have developed a plan for the Board of Supervisors on how to fund an estimated $3.1 billion in additional transportation needed to support the transformation of Tysons into an urban center. County residents will now have an opportunity to hear planners discuss the recommendations at a public forum. The McLean Citizens Association hosts the meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 7:30–9:30 p.m. at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean.

McLean Antique Show & Sale Returns Nov. 10-11

The 36th Annual McLean Antique Show & Sale will be held at the McLean Community Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Admission is $7 for adults and can be used on both days of the show. Proceeds of the show will benefit The Alden’s James C. Macdonald Arts Scholarship Fund. The center is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.
