‘Friends of Matt’ Prepare for Memorial Golf Tournament

Potomac Snapshot: Art To Benefit Potomac Conservancy
Outside Ventures and Firefly Design, Inc. have partnered to create a vintage art series highlighting places along the Potomac River in and near Washington. Reminiscent of the National Park Service posters created in the late 1930s and early ’40s, these prints feature Great Falls, the C&O Canal Towpath, Key Bridge and Rock Creek Park. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase will benefit the Potomac Conservancy, supporting their mission to safeguard the lands and waters of the Potomac and its tributaries. Senior Services of Alexandria hosted its annual Generation to Generation Gala March 12 at the Hilton Mark Center Alexandria. The 2016 honorees included Sue Goodhart and Allison Goodhart DuShuttle, and Kitty, Mike, Kirby and Keely Porterfield. H. Arthur Sauer was awarded with SSA’s first Special Service Award. Police Cracking Down on Drunk Drivers
Starting Dec. 16, officers of the Fairfax County Police Department will begin a countywide targeted DWI enforcement effort. Along with state and local partners, the goal is to crack down on drunk drivers and keep the roads safer this holiday season.

SoberRide Returns for July 4

Electronic Collars Not Leashworthy
The city has adopted an ordinance that excludes electronic collars and similar electronic devices as legal methods to physically restrain dogs in public. At its June 16 public hearing, the City Council voted unanimously in favor of the ordinance, which goes into effect on Sept. 1.
