Fun and Festivities for the Whole Community

31st annual Centreville Day is Saturday, Oct. 14.

Live music, a colorful parade, children’s activities and fun galore on an early fall day – all that and more are in store at the 31st annual Centreville Day. It’s set for Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., in Historic Centreville Park. The free event will be held at 5714 Mount Gilead Road (off Braddock Road, across Route 29 from the IHOP).

Willis Glenn Wright of Fairfax Dies

Willis Glenn Wright, R.Ph, of Fairfax, formerly of Alexandria, died on April 23, 2012. Beloved husband of 10 years to Ruth J. Montllor. Loving father of William "Addison" Wright (Mala) and Edward H. Wright (Diane). Cherished grandfather of Ashley Carrie, William "Glenn", John Savage "Jay", and Emma Addison Wright.

Attempted Burglary and Assault in Burke Area

Police are investigating an incident that occurred Friday evening, Aug. 23. Around 6:50 p.m., a 37-year-old woman answered a knock on her door in the 10200 block of Scarborough Commons Court. A man standing at the door spoke briefly with the victim and then attempted to push his way inside the residence. The suspect also struck the victim in the upper body. The victim was able to slam the door shut and the suspect fled on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require transport to a hospital.

Police Charge Local Man With Burglary

Fairfax County police have charged a Fairfax man with burglary and destruction of property. He is Monte Tobias Moyer, 27, of Aristotle Drive. Police responded to a home in the 11300 block of Aristotle Drive on Tuesday, April 30, shortly before 9 a.m., for a report of a break-in there.

Brief: Pizza for Charities at McLean Day

McLean Rotary has broadened its menu at McLean Day and will be the only pizza vendor for the event—offering Domino’s pizza, in addition to its regular, popular hotdogs and drinks. McLean Rotary Club members have manned a hotdog booth at McLean Day since 1975, when McLean Day was held at the McLean Community Center.

Del. Rust in Kidney Walk

On Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m., Del. Tom Rust (R-86) with volunteers from the Team Rust walk team will join hundreds of residents of the Reston and greater Herndon area for the 2013 Northern Virginia Kidney Walk at the Reston Town Center.
