Little Street Rezoning Passes

The Herndon Town Council approved the Little Street rezoning by a vote of 6-1, with Council member Connie Hutchinson opposed, at its meeting March 23.

The developer, Stanley Martin, had been looking for the rezoning in order to build a 42-unit townhouse cluster on 4.88 acres of land. The developer did reduce the plan by one townhouse.

In addition, the Town Council approved an ordinance that authorizes the conveyance of an electric power easement for a transformer pad in connection with the construction of the Herndon Commerce Center on Elden and Station streets. The vote was 6-1 with Councilman John De Noyer opposed.

The council also approved, unanimously, a resolution, which would allow members of the Town Council, as well as the town's board and commissions to elect to be part of the town's health insurance. Those who choose to do so will have to pay the full premium cost of the coverage.

The council's next meeting is a work session April 6, to discuss the proposed fiscal year 2005 budget and corresponding capital improvements program. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers conference room, 765 Lynn St.
