The Herndon High School Navy Junior ROTC unit competed in the Patuxent Drill and Academic Meet Saturday, Jan. 31 at Patuxent High School in Lusby, MD. Herndon finished second overall in the meet. The Drill Team, led by Cadet Sienna DeSantis, finished second overall in the Drill competition, earning first place finishes in the Armed Standard and the Unarmed Exhibition competitions. The unit also earned second place finishes in the Unarmed Standard and Armed Exhibition events and a third place finish in Color Guard event. Cadet Kyle Bentley finished in the top ten in the knockout competition, which demonstrates knowledge of military drill and marching procedures. The Academic team led by Cadet Conner Williams finished third in academics.
