Arlington SCAN Honoree
SCAN and its Allies in Prevention Coalition honored Mary Ann Moran of Arlington — center with SCAN Executive Director Sonia Quinonez and event emcee ABC7 News Anchor Leon Harris — for her work to protect children and support families in Northern Virginia. The April 2 event also served as the kick-off for the 2013 Northern Virginia Child Abuse Prevention Campaign. Recently retired from Arlington County’s Department of Human Services, Moran was the assets coordinator for the Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth and Families, for which she was a driving force of its creation in 1999 and its first citizen chair. Her work has included years as a preschool teacher, mentor, advocate and community leader. She and her husband of 43 years have two daughters, two sons and six grandchildren.
