American Legion Post 24 will be collecting all unserviceable American flags on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 400 Cameron St. to ensure they are retired in a respectful way in accordance with the Flag Code of the United States. Unserviceable American flags shall mean any textile flag representing the United States of America that is no longer proper for display due to its condition including tears, rips, stains, fading, obsolescence (meaning not the current 50 star U.S. national flag) or other damage. Flags of other nations or other flags are not accepted in this program. Drop off unserviceable American flags to be sure they are properly retired.
