Juan Estrella is an Ecuadoran magician performing as part of “Ecuador Magico.”

"Ecuador Magico” or “Magical Ecuador” is a celebration of Ecuadoran culture through music, theatre and magic. Teatro de la Luna, a local spanish language theater located in D.C. will present three shows May 1-23 at Gunston Arts Center-Theater Two, 2700 S Lang St. Tickets start at $10. All shows will be performed in Spanish with live English dubbing.
“Ecuador Magico” will launch with three performances of “La Escoba,” the brainchild of Ecuadoran performer Juana Estrella at 8 p.m. on May 1 and May 2, and 3 p.m. on May 3. “La Escoba will be followed by three performances of “María Magdalena, la mujer borrada” or “Mary Magdalene, the woman erased” on May 8 and May 9 and 3 p.m. on May 10. Then, magician Juan Estrella will perform on May 15 and May 16 and 3 p.m., May 16-17. “Ecuador Magico will conclude with “Boleros,” a tribute to musician Julio Jaramillo.
