The “Building Bridges” exhibit is a collection of work featuring local artists, and artists from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Guest curator, multimedia artist, and Hurricane Katrina-survivor Lori K. Gordon developed the juried exhibition with Linda Elliff and Barb Boatman to be a visual interpretation of the “building of bridges between people.” On Thursday, June 4 at 7 p.m. Gordon will share her experience fleeing New Orleans and her life as an artist since. On Friday, June 5, at the opening reception, 7-9 p.m., the curators will discuss the exhibit’s concept and on Saturday, June 27, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. the gallery will host a “Building Altars” workshop led by Gordon in which participants may build their own altars using boxes or tins. All events are free except for the workshop, which is $80 for Del Ray Artisan members, and $95 for nonmembers. There is also a $20 supply fee. Visit www.TheDelRayArtisans/org for more.
