Dennis Hays, president of the Reston Citizens Association, commandeered the microphone to speak to the crowd as it was disbanding on Monday night: “What we hoped for and what I think we achieved is that we wanted to send a message that the citizenry of Reston is concerned and involved in these issues; that there are answers that we feel we need to have; and we need to go forward not to do anything that is going to destroy the character and the vibrancy of this great community.”
