New citizens recite the Oath of Allegiance on July 4 at the Mount Vernon Estate. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the Treasury Jacob J. Lew, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas help celebrate the country’s 237th birthday as USCIS welcomes more than 7,800 new citizens in more than 100 naturalization ceremonies across America and overseas were performed from July 1-5.
