Tyrone, Robert, Brandi and Kenny Cross gather for a photo before the ceremony begins. Robert Cross coached his first cousin Alexandria resident Kenny Cross for competition in the 1961 Penn Relays. Kenny, a student at McKinley Tech in D.C. won the gold medal with his team in the 4x100 relay. In 1979, Kenny’s son Tyrone, a student at Fairmont Heights H.S. in Maryland competed with his team in the 4x800 and won the gold medal. Tyrone’s daughter Brandi competed in the 2007 Penn Relays in the 4x400. Her team won the gold medal.
