World War II Flyover at Great Falls

Photo detail

P-51 Mustangs The Mustang was originally developed by the United States for Britain but the aircraft lacked high altitude performance with its original Allison engine. It was not until a decision was made to try the Rolls Royce Merlin Engine that was used in the British Spitfire that the Mustang really took flight. It was arguably the best fighter of the war and finally gave the United States the ability to escort bombers deep into Germany. The Mustang was flown in Korea and now is coveted by many aircraft collectors.
