The Jewish Learning Institute offers an eight-week course this spring, titled "The Messiah Mystery; Toward a Perfect World," which will focus on one of Judaism's least understood — yet most central — principles of faith. The spring course begins Wednesday, May 11, and is presented each Wednesday evening through June 29. Jubilee Christian Center Children's Ministry hosts a special "Kidsational" Day on Sunday, May 29, with Christian Illusionist Kevin Owens during the 10:30 a.m. service. * Bike Rodeo takes place Friday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants are asked to bring their own bikes. Exhibits and events include an obstacle course, a police bike team, an ambulance team, free raffles at the end of every hour and refreshments for sale. Event supports local Boy Scouts.

* Potato Drop to Feed the Hungry takes place Saturday, June 4, from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to bag 40,000 pounds of potatoes for distribution to local hunger relief agencies. Sponsored by the Society of St. Andrew, the food will feed more than 130,000 Virginians in need.

* Children's Consignment Sale takes place Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to noon.

* Blood Drive on Sunday, June 12, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted. To register, call Drina at 703-425-2939.

* Vacation Bible School from Monday, July 18 to Friday, July 22. Open to ages 3 years through 5th grade, the program is centered on Christian worship, stories, music, crafts and games. Free.

St. Mary's Mothers' Group hosts its annual Kid's Stuff sale on Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 5222 Sideburn Road, Fairfax. Proceeds to support the Mother's Group and charity projects. Donations for this event is accepted from June 4-10. * Coffeehouse Worship Service on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m., for those people who may be unavailable Sunday mornings or are seeking a break from a more traditional style of worship. The service offers the same lesson and sermon as the Sunday service, but in a less formal environment. A nursery is provided for young children.
