RA Hosts Real Estate Professional Meeting
The Reston Association hosted about 40 local real estate professionals on Thursday, March 29, for an informational session on real estate issues confronting the RA. Real estate agents, Realtors and representatives from settlement companies took questions from RA staff, including questions on open space violations and the positives and negatives of owning a lakefront property.
Representatives of the RA saw the meeting as an opportunity to discuss issues with real estate professionals, who are usually the first communicators with new Reston residents.
Both RA representatives and real estate professionals remembered the life of Barbara Aaron, who passed away in December as a RA director and spent over 30 years in the real estate industry.
Child Pornography Arrest
On Friday, March 30, Fairfax County police arrested Billy Gene Vance, 63, of the 12200 block of Laurel Glade Court in Reston. Vance was charged with three counts of distributing child pornography and 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
The investigation was initiated in February 2007 when a man allegedly sent inappropriate pictures of children via the internet to an undercover detective with the Metropolitan Police Department. Vance was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
Reston Town Proposal To Be Discussed
Reston Citizens Association will be holding two informational meetings to present developments in its proposal to make Reston a town.
The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 4, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Reston Library.
The second meeting will take place on Saturday, April 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Reston Community Center at Lake Anne.
