Adding a special local touch to this year's Festival of the Arts will be the works of 30 teachers and 21 students from throughout Alexandria's public and private schools. They will be exhibiting on the King Street sidewalk in front of City Hall as a separate event titled "Local Color Show."
"The Commission wanted to showcase the works of this special group of Alexandria artists," said Pat Miller, chair, Alexandria Commission for the Arts.
Designed as an opportunity for both talented teachers and students to exhibit the works, the goal is to encourage other Alexandria young people to develop an interest in the arts, according to Miller. Following the Festival the local exhibitors will have an opportunity to display their works in City Hall.
