MCC to Hold Public Hearing on Programs on March 20, 2013
he McLean Community Center’s (MCC) 11-member Governing Board will hold its annual Public Hearing on Programs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20. The board is asking residents of Dranesville Small District 1A to come to the meeting and share their thoughts on center programs and services.

Burke: Friends of Sadie Blood Drive Returns on Valentine’s Day
In early 2010, friends of the Lauer family in Burke pulled together and organized an impromptu blood drive to support three-month-old Sadie Lauer, who was then diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Sadie underwent several surgeries to remove the cancerous mass in her neck, which required a large supply of replacement blood. The drive fell on Valentine’s Day.

Parking in Old Town Alexandria Dec. 18 reminded me of attorney William Kunstler's questioning of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley during the 1968 Chicago Seven trial following the Democratic National Convention, during which Chicago police clubbed demonstrators. Kunstler asked Daley if that was the traditional hospitality shown visitors.
