Helios HR, a human resources firm in Reston, announced a call for nominations for the 2013 Helios Apollo Awards. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 15. Winners and finalists will be honored at the Helios Apollo Awards Ceremony at the McLean Hilton on May 29. This breakfast ceremony will recognize organizations for their outstanding commitment to employee development and engagement, specifically highlighting innovative, collaborative and agile programs.

Senior guard Nate Favero is Warhawks’ top scorer this winter.
The Madison High boys’ basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 52-38 win at Liberty District opponent Stone Bridge High in Ashburn on Jan. 20. Then, in their next game three days later at district rival McLean, the Warhawks nearly pulled off an upset victory in a 54-53 loss to the sizzling hot Highlanders.

Potomac school program teaches empathy and acceptance.
A classmate led Sophia Collins across the gym floor during a physical education class at Wayside Elementary School in Potomac last week. Sophia tried to pick up a golf ball and put it in a cup. This may sound like an overly simple task for a first grade student, but Sophia needed help because she couldn’t see.

Arlington’s Week in Coronavirus
Coronavirus response funding – The Arlington Board will take action to accept $413,265 in federal CARES Act funding from the state.
