Ernest (Ernie) J. Colton

Ernest (Ernie) J. Colton, 96, of Springfield, died on Oct. 25, 2012 at Greensprings Retirement Community’s Renaissance Gardens. He was the husband of Ruth Litten Colton who preceded him in death along with his parents, brother and other aunts and uncles. Survivors include his son David Martin Colton, daughter-in-law Cheryl Anne and granddaughter Alexis FuBao from Alexandria, and daughter Esther Joanna Colton from Berlin, Germany.

In my letter of April 25, I reported on the video camera I installed next to the Osprey nest behind my home on Little Hunting Creek. At that time, I revealed that our Osprey mother had laid two eggs. On May 22 and 23, the eggs hatched and two Osprey chicks are rapidly growing as their father frequently brings fish to the nest.

Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place on Franconia Road near the on-ramp for I395/I95 just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Preliminary investigation reveals that an adult woman was crossing Franconia Road, not in a crosswalk, when a 2002 Ford pickup truck struck and killed the pedestrian.
