Local Filmmaker
The film, "The Rendezvous" is a 12-minute thriller written and directed by Potomac filmmaker Stephen Smith and produced by his partner and wife Janine Shore. The film centers on a beautiful woman who convinces her greed-driven lover to engage in a risky plan, which involves stealing an extremely valuable object from her husband, selling the object from the highest bidder, and running off to live the good life. However, the plan doesn't go quite as well as expected, and in this case, it leads to a startling outcome. (To see a trailer of the film, visit www.stephensmithfilms.com). The filmmakers hosted a screening of the film at the AFI Theater in Silver Spring, on April 20.

On Sunday, April 7, CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Alexandria, was an event sponsor for the seventh consecutive year for the 41st Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. The credit union provided volunteers, runners, and walkers from its membership and staff.

$1,700 Aids Boys & Girls Clubs
Occasionally Cake of Alexandria donated $1,700 to the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Branch of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, collected during its grand opening ceremony. The shop had committed to give away 25 percent of their sales that day and also gave away more than 3,000 free cupcakes to patrons at their Mount Vernon and Alexandria stores.
