Lorton Boy Donates Arrowhead to Smithsonian
Ten-year-old Noah Cordle of Lorton became an overnight celebrity in August after literally stumbling upon a thousands of years-old arrowhead while on vacation in Long Beach Island, N.J. The Asbury Park Press first broke the story and soon national newspapers and television programs were hounding the Cordles for interviews.

Greenspring focuses on culture and heritage with Diversity Expo.
On Thursday, July 31, Greenspring hosted the 4th Annual Diversity Expo at the Springfield retirement community. The event, spearheaded by the community’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, provided for an eclectic cultural experience with international foods, clothing, food, music and dance.

On Thursday, June 12, the Torpedo Factory Art Center officially unveiled "Coloring Outside the Lines," the mural that resident artist Rachel Kerwin has been painting in the waterfront entrance.

ASF remembers tournament founder.
The Alexandria Seaport Foundation held its 8th Annual Paul Weeks II Golf Tournament May 12 at Pohick Bay in the Mason Neck area of Fairfax County. This year's tournament was held in memory of Willie Taylor, founder of the tournament and former president of the Robinson Terminal Warehouse where the ASF is located.

Robert Williams and Margaret Arnold each received the Teacher of the Year Award from The Fairfax Rotary Club on May 21.
Alexandria Remembers D-Day

On June 6, 1944, American and Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy and began operations that would eventually lead to the liberation of France and the rest of Europe. The scars of the invasion can be felt 68 years on.
