Construction Begins at Herndon-Monroe Parking Garage
The Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride garage, located at 12530 Sunrise Valley Drive, Herndon, will undergo major structural repair and maintenance work beginning March 31. Commuters who use the 1,745-parking-space facility will be affected as areas of the garage will be blocked off in four phases for the construction project, with substantial completion of the work expected in September 2012
Herndon Vice Mayor Connects with Runnymede
Honoring the history of Herndon.
In November of 2015 Herndon’s Vice Mayor Jennifer Baker visited England and met Derek Cotty, Mayor of Runnymede, Herndon’s sister city. Runnymede is a water-meadow alongside the River Thames in the English county of Surrey, and just over 20 miles (32 km) west of central London.

Residents and friends of the Timberly neighborhood in McLean took part in a block party with visits by Captain Dalton Becker, commander of McLean District Station, Fairfax County Police Department, and his officers, and Fairfax County/Fairfax City Sheriff Stacey Ann Kincaid and her deputies for National Night Out (NNO) 2021.

Letter to the Editor: So Many Supported Grad Party
On June 13, the Chantilly community came together to celebrate the graduation of the Chantilly High School Class of 2013. The 2013 CHS All Night Grad Party, themed “Oh, What a Knight,” was held at Chantilly High School. It proved to be quite the night of fun for all who attended. The graduates enjoyed inflatables, carnival and casino games, as well as great food. It was a fantastic sendoff for our seniors as they begin a new phase of their lives. An event of this size takes many volunteers to make it a success.
Letter: Join in Healthy Effort
September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. We hear a lot about the problem nationally, but many Alexandrians don’t realize childhood obesity is a problem here, in our own backyard. A 2007 study by Inova Health System revealed that 43.5 percent of children ages 2-5 in our city are overweight or obese. That means that nearly half of our youngest residents are at risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and more.
