<bt>Percussion instruments will be featured at the Feb. 9 session of Arlington Symphony’s educational series, “Feast for Young Ears.” Small ensembles from the orchestra present entertaining performance-discussion-demonstrations. Held at the symphony offices at Ballston Common Mall, Level 3 (4238 Wilson Blvd.), Arlington, the program is offered at 10 a.m. for ages 3-7, 11:15 a.m. for all ages, and 1 p.m. for ages 8-12. <bt>A tradition since 1797, the Alexandria George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee will present the George Washington Birthnight Banquet & Ball, Feb. 16, 6:30 p.m.-midnight, at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, 134 N. Royal St., Alexandria. The banquet menu includes soup, roasted rockfish, roast of beef, duck confiture, potato balls, pickled vegetables, and root vegetables a la creme. The Ball will feature an 18th-century English country dance, with dance instruction and live music; 18th-century or formal attire is encouraged.
