Potomac Elementary School began its celebration of the Chinese New Year on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
All Chinese immersion classes paraded through the school with masks, noise makers and lanterns they made for the celebration on "Wear Red and Parade Day." In the evening, Chinese immersion students, second-grade non-immersion from Potomac Elementary and sixth-grade immersion students from Hoover Middle School were scheduled to sing and dance for the entire school and community.
Cultural awareness activities are scheduled through Feb. 27 at the school, and Potomac Elementary students are scheduled to perform with Hoover Chinese Immersion students in celebrations to be held at Lake Forest Mall in Gaithersburg on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.
