Caroline Berson, Emily Collins, Morgan Ferguson, Claire Wallace and Maria Micocci of McLean High School’s Women’s Senior Quad rowing team have been invited to row at the Henley Women’s Regatta June 21-23 on the Thames River in England

Eric Smith of McLean High School has been named a winner of the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Cunningham Park and Marshall Road elementary schools have been selected to participate in the first phase of the LEAD Fairfax program, a Fairfax County Public Schools leadership development program.

Erin Alpert, a rising senior at Langley High School, arrived June 23 in Harrisonburg to take part in the Virginia Governor’s Russian Academy at James Madison University to learn the language and culture of Russia. Participating students were selected through a statewide competition. The Virginia Department of Education sponsors six Governor’s Foreign Language Academies each summer. Courtney B. Smoot, daughter of Bob and Sandy Smoot of Great Falls, has been selected to attend the Governor’s School for Spanish. Courtney is a rising senior at Langley High School.
