McLean Rotary Honors Two Businesspeople

On Tuesday, May 28, the McLean Rotary

honored two local businesspeople in recognition of their excellent accomplishments in their vocations and of their service in the workplace.

Retired Rear Adm. James Taylor is chief executive officer of Vinson Hall Corp., a continuing-care retirement community in McLean.

“Since Jim Taylor took over as head of Vinson Hall, there have been many improvements, including a 100-percent occupancy rate. In addition, Arleigh Burke Pavilion, the long-term care branch of the corporation, has been judged deficiency-free by the State of Virginia for seven years,” Rotarian Peter Agnew said, while making the award presentation.

In addition to Taylor, McLean Rotary member Ricardo Balcells was honored.

Balcells has been a banker since 1984 and is now regional manager of Virginia Commerce Bank.

“Rick has served three years on the McLean Orchestra Board, he has been involved in the Chamber of Commerce and the McLean Rotary Foundation, and he is currently serving as treasurer of the Rotary,” Agnew said.

Club president Vance Zavella presented plaques to both recipients of the Vocation Service Awards.
